Low Cost Housing, Still A Distant Dream

India needs an additional 26 million housing units for its urban poor this year. Government alone cannot meet this target and there must be private players’ participation in filling this huge gap. But looking at the ‘thin profit margin’ coupled with selling difficulties, most of the builders are reluctant to launch affordable housing projects.
